NorthgateArinso global expert addresses the challenges of a digitally revolutionised workplace

Business leaders in Australia and New Zealand have gained a rare insight into how technology is changing the way workers define their work place.

NorthgateArinso welcomed global expert Marianne Langlois to share her views of this global business transformation and address the challenges that lie ahead.

At The Changing Face of HR business briefing, Ms Langlois said regardless of its size every organisation can benefit from understanding the commercial worth of HR.

“Technology is altering people’s way of life and HR must adapt to this changing environment,” Ms Langlois said.

“It will take vision, leadership, dedication and resilience to change your current HR organisation into a consultancy team.”

In the future, roles that don’t add value will be quickly erased and the permanency of lifetime employment will grow less common.

The evolution of the HR industry therefore requires a greater focus on meeting the demand for low cost and streamlined business practices.

“Executives stress the need for HR to get better at understanding the challenges and needs of front line managers,” Ms Langlois said. “They need HR to help identify skills and play a key role in acquiring and developing talent.”

Ms Langlois’ briefings explored the potential for HR to create value by identifying workplace opportunities that support sustainable growth.

NorthgateArinso Australia & New Zealand Managing Director David Page said the HR industry has a profound opportunity to step up in a trying economic climate.

“HR must think of itself as a function that drives the business forward, instead of as a function that supports the business.”
